Shabby Chic Furniture - Over recent years this has grown in popularity, one of these ranges is the aptly named Shabby Chic Collection from Oak Furniture Land. All of OakFurnitureLands offer is made from Solid Hardwood and that is a clear statement of quality.

The collection is actually made from Solid Mango and price wise we rather doubt you will find cheaper for the quality when it comes to shopping for Shabby Chic Chest of Drawers, is it me but I always type Shabby Chich!

OFL now have furniture shops right across the UK so actually viewing this range should be achievable by almost everyone in the UK.

Other sources would be mostly independents although we have seen some furniture collections of this style in more mainstream stores like Marks and Spencer's and John Lewis.

Stumbled along an interesting web page discussing the difference between Oak and Pine wood Pine Oak Furniture, The web page that I came across is very informative and provided me with an insight and information that I was unaware about.

Oak does lead the way when it comes to the hardness of the wood, as Pine is a soft wood it is more susceptible to knocks and dents. Oak can be slightly more expensive but the quality does shine through with a beautiful grain and sleek design and contemporary style. Pine is cheaper than Oak but has a more traditional look and style to it. With both completely different styles and appearances it can sometimes be difficult to decide take a look and see what you think.

Been looking around at various Chest of Drawers and still Oak Furniture Land remain the best although I see that Right Price now have a similar offer. Devonshire, a firm favourite for many years seemed to have priced themselves out of the market, which is a surprise given their lead for so long.

Also notice that Furniture Today have gone bankrupt which was an online distributor of Devonshire Pine. So a few years ago they had a fantastic online presence in Pine Solutions, Right Price Furniture and Furniture Today and now they have nothing.

I assume they think that the furniture market is going to stay traditional but having seen the amazing growth of Oak Furniture Land I cannot see the market changing now.

The old favourites still offer something like Furniture Village and Harvey s but their prices for what you get are not exactly jaw dropping.

So looking around for a Solid Oak Chest of Drawers what is the best deal.

Before looking at candidates we can quickly rule out many of the offerings from the normal big stores.

First up offer from Indigo and their Riven range, it looks solid oak and there are some detail shots which support that claim.

This is going to turn into a mini rant about furniture and price comparison sites. Clearly their not really price comparison sites as the sites to be listed have to pay for the clicks they receive.

So they can't claim to offer you any sort of independent view on what their offering you just as well shop in one place.

How will we differ, the adverts on this site are blind we do nothing to filter them at all so this in turn means we have no vested interest in any one supplier.

So we're free to say Furniture Retailer X is a pile of old rubbish should we want to.

Over the next few weeks we'll be taking an independent look at the best place to buy a Chest of Drawers. From our sister site Wardrobes For Sale, I suspect the leading places to buy will be the big four internet independent retailers like Right Price Furniture, Furniture Today and Oak Furniture Land.

In saying that we've only really looked at High Quality Furniture so far, I suspect the likes of Tesco and Ikea to be able to offer something competitive when it's something they can bulk ship like, e.g. Flat Pack Furniture.
